Flawless Orchid Blossom

Photograph of a flawless, white orchid blossomI spyed this orchid plant in a local home improvement store. It had eight flawless blossoms. I couldn’t pass it up; bought it, took it home and will continue taking photos of it until the spirit no longer moves me. It’s rare to find such perfection.

Summer’s Gone

A field of wildflowers gone to seed.

Wildflowers have mostly gone to seed and the brilliant, lush greens of summer have given way to the dusty, drab greens and browns of early autumn. How did this happen so quickly? June was just yesterday – wasn’t it?

Blossoming Prickly Pear

Despite its incredibly fierce passive/aggressive defense, the Prickly Pear Cactus sprouts a very delicate flower about this time every spring. These are a few growing around the perimeter of the Snow to Sun RV Resort’s leash-free dog park and birding center. Prickly Pear blossoms begin opening in the Rio Grande Valley late March. By the end of June to the middle of July tunas will be ripe for harvest and turned into a delicious wine.

stumbling…

Manipulated close-up of a wildflower growing beside the driveway early February.

Stumbling through various Photoshop layers and process until I create something beyond the standard snapshot. This wildflower – still unidentified – is growing beside the driveway. It’s tiny, but the brilliant color pops it out from its surroundings.
I love creating something that isn’t, but still representative of something that is.

New England Aster

Abstract digital image of a New England Aster blended with a mirror image of cirrus clouds.

This series of twelve images (see previous posts) were created to show relationships between shapes and forms frequently occurring in ordinary environments, but in an unusual way of looking at them.

Day Lilly Buds

Abstract digital image of a day lily bud floating on a mirrored photo of cirrus clouds.

Each of the images in this series (see previous posts) is a collage of mirrored clouds, blended with plants, selected petals or blossoms intended to illustrate symmetry, repeating shapes and forms – sometimes provocatively suggestive – that show relationships and connectivity in the incredibly dynamic life spirit of the universe.
